C2k Ministries Inc. closes out the 2020-2021 year with an epic store.
This year was so different than other years and as I say that, I know it was the same for everyone reading this.
Normally we would have 2 large stores during the year; one around Christmas and the other at the year-end. This year we didn’t have one at Christmas so this year-end store was “off-the-chain.”
How does our store work? Well during the year, each student receives RE>DIRECT dollars. On a daily basis they receive $3 dollars, and for every “A”, “B”, and “C” they receive (scaled payout) they can receive larger dollars provided parents report to us a picture of their progress report or report card.
Sadly, some parents don’t which then hurts the kids because they are not able to purchase what they would like to in store like this.
What you won’t see are 2 students upset that they could not purchase something because they were short. The easy thing to do is to cave in (entitlement), the better thing to do (super hard and heartbreaking) is not to give it (empowerment).
God designed us to be empowered, Genesis 1-2, sin designed us to be entitled, the rest of the Bible until Jesus settled it. (Another discussion for another time)
Our students are responsible for balancing their account with deposits and purchases. Kids have to make choices based on value (which is inflated).
We will continue to press into empowerment, and this store is a visible representation of what it looks like. “Go get it” is the cry and then we back it up with the tools and resources needed to make it happen.
With the video, I was really upset because as we brought kids into the backroom (the store), I was running video and audio and after I ran it for about 10 minutes, I stopped it and it said it could not save because of an “internal error.” That being said, Ms. Edna was back there (she does photography) just snapping pics and I am so glad she was.
The sounds when the kids walked in were ” oh my gosh”, “wooh”, “am I in toy heaven”, as well as others.
YOU make this happen and we are really grateful. I will never say that our kids deserve anything other than a chance that is backed with solid tools and resources. As cool as this is, we are only scratching the surface of impact and change. We are currently processing what this looks like as a board and ministry and should have a large announcement coming in the next month or so.
Thanks for all you do to help create change. Enjoy the fan… (you will get it once you watch the video)

Great concept and nice results. Happy to hear the emphasis was on a “store” rather than gifts. The students earned the right to purchase. Motivational and structural… congratulations to all!
Amazing. Keep it up!
Way to go kiddos!!! You got through a difficult year, but you deserved the best. Have a great summer staff and kids!!!
